When I arrived at the hospital to bring my wife Suzie and our newborn twins home, I was met with devastation. Suzie was gone, leaving only a cryptic note asking me to take care of the babies and to ask my mother why she had done this to her.
My daughters were sleeping peacefully in their bassinets, but I was in turmoil, trying to make sense of the note and Suzie’s abrupt departure.
Returning home, I confronted my mother, who had always been critical of Suzie. She denied any wrongdoing, but her protests rang hollow.
That night, while searching through Suzie’s belongings, I discovered a letter written by my mother, cruelly stating that Suzie would never be good enough for me and urging her to leave for the sake of the children.
Overwhelmed with guilt and anger, I confronted my mother. Her excuses about trying to protect me fell flat, and I made her leave the house.
